About the Toyota Urban Cruiser 61.1 kWh AWD

The Toyota Urban Cruiser 61.1 kWh AWD is a compact all-electric SUV designed to bring Toyota into the highly competitive small EV crossover segment. Developed as a practical family-focused EV, the Urban Cruiser combines compact dimensions, all-wheel-drive capability and Toyota’s reputation for reliability in an accessible package.

Powered by a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing 181 hp (135 kW), the Urban Cruiser AWD delivers confident performance and enhanced traction in poor weather conditions. The electric powertrain enables acceleration from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 7.4 seconds, while top speed reaches approximately 93 mph (150 km/h).

The vehicle features a 61.1 kWh battery pack with 59.8 kWh usable capacity, delivering up to 245 miles (395 km) WLTP range. The battery uses LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) chemistry, offering durability, thermal stability and potentially lower long-term degradation.

Charging is supported through an 11 kW AC onboard charger and up to 70 kW DC rapid charging, allowing a typical 10-80% charge in approximately 44 minutes under ideal conditions. Battery preconditioning is also supported to improve charging performance.

Inside, the Urban Cruiser offers a spacious five-seat layout with a practical SUV design. Despite its compact footprint, it provides flexible storage and a family-friendly cabin. Cargo capacity ranges from approximately 238 litres to 562 litres depending on seating configuration.

The Urban Cruiser is aimed at buyers seeking an affordable electric SUV with AWD capability, competing against vehicles such as the Hyundai Kona Electric, Kia EV3, Suzuki e Vitara and Volvo EX30. Its combination of practicality, efficiency and Toyota backing makes it an attractive option for urban and suburban drivers.
