About the Ford Explorer Standard Range RWD
The Ford Explorer Standard Range RWD (MY26) is the entry-level version of Ford’s European electric SUV, built on the Volkswagen MEB platform. The MY26 update introduces a larger battery, improved range and lower pricing, making it an attractive family-focused EV.
Power comes from a rear-mounted electric motor producing 190 hp (140 kW) and 350 Nm of torque, driving the rear wheels for balanced handling and efficient performance. The Explorer accelerates from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 8.0 seconds and reaches a top speed of 99 mph (160 km/h).
The MY26 model is equipped with a 58.0 kWh usable battery (61.0 kWh gross) using LFP battery chemistry, providing improved durability and lower manufacturing costs. WLTP range is rated at up to 276 miles (444 km), while real-world mixed driving range is approximately 205 miles (330 km).
Charging is supported at 11 kW AC and up to 105-115 kW DC rapid charging. A typical 10-80% charge takes around 27 minutes, and battery preconditioning is included to help optimise charging performance.
Practicality remains a strong point. The Explorer offers seating for five occupants, a boot capacity of up to 532 litres, and as much as 1,460 litres with the rear seats folded. It also supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, allowing external devices to be powered from the vehicle battery.
The Ford Explorer Standard Range RWD (MY26) delivers strong value in the electric family SUV market, offering practical space, efficient rear-wheel-drive dynamics and useful technology at a competitive price point.
