About the Subaru Solterra AWD

The Subaru Solterra AWD is Subaru’s first fully electric SUV and was developed in partnership with Toyota, sharing its underlying platform with the Toyota bZ4X. Unlike many competitors, the Solterra places a strong emphasis on all-wheel-drive capability, combining Subaru’s renowned SUV expertise with an electric powertrain designed for year-round usability.

Powered by a dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, the Solterra produces approximately 218 hp (160 kW) and 337 Nm of torque. The twin-motor setup provides confident traction on slippery surfaces and light off-road terrain, staying true to Subaru’s adventurous heritage.

The Solterra AWD is equipped with a 71.4 kWh usable battery and offers up to 289 miles (465 km) WLTP range, depending on specification and driving conditions. Its battery management system supports pre-conditioning and enhanced thermal control for improved efficiency and charging performance.

Charging capabilities include support for up to 150 kW DC rapid charging, enabling a 10-80% recharge in around 30 minutes under ideal conditions. AC charging is supported for convenient home and workplace charging.

Inside, the Solterra features a spacious five-seat cabin with a digital instrument display, large central touchscreen and modern connectivity features. The flat-floor architecture maximises passenger space, while the practical SUV layout provides generous luggage capacity and a commanding driving position.

Subaru has equipped the Solterra with advanced safety technology, including the latest EyeSight driver assistance systems, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance and a range of active safety features. Combined with standard AWD and X-Mode drive settings, it is one of the more capable electric SUVs when conditions become challenging.
