About the BMW i3 50 xDrive

The BMW i3 50 xDrive is BMW’s new all-electric sports sedan built on the company’s groundbreaking Neue Klasse platform. Completely unrelated to the original carbon-fibre BMW i3 city car, this new i3 is a premium executive saloon designed to combine exceptional range, advanced technology and performance-oriented driving dynamics.

Powered by BMW’s latest dual-motor xDrive all-wheel-drive system, the i3 50 xDrive delivers 469 hp (345 kW) and 645 Nm of torque. Performance is impressive, with a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in just 4.7 seconds and a top speed of 124 mph (200 km/h).

The i3 50 xDrive features a huge 112.2 kWh usable battery (113.4 kWh gross / 115 kWh nominal depending on source reporting) and offers up to 559 miles (900 km) WLTP range, placing it among the longest-range EVs currently announced. The sedan’s aerodynamic body helps it achieve greater efficiency than many electric SUVs.

Charging capability is equally impressive. Built on an advanced 800-volt electrical architecture, the i3 supports up to 400 kW DC ultra-rapid charging, allowing a 10-80% charge in approximately 21 minutes under ideal conditions. BMW’s new cylindrical battery cell technology also significantly improves energy density and charging performance.

Inside, the i3 introduces BMW’s latest digital environment, including BMW Panoramic Vision, BMW Operating System X, and an entirely new cockpit layout focused on the driver experience. Premium materials, advanced connectivity and next-generation driver assistance systems position the i3 as BMW’s flagship electric sports saloon.

The i3 50 xDrive competes directly with vehicles such as the Mercedes-Benz CLA EV, Tesla Model 3 Performance, Polestar 2 and future premium electric executive saloons. Its combination of range, charging speed and performance places it among the most technologically advanced EVs currently available.
