Unlike conventional EVs that rely on increasingly larger battery packs to extend range, the Lightyear 0 prioritises aerodynamic excellence and energy optimisation. Its electric powertrain produces 130 kW and 1,720 Nm of torque, delivering power through an advanced all-wheel-drive system. While performance is deliberately tuned for efficiency rather than outright acceleration, the Lightyear 0 still reaches 0-62 mph in 10.0 seconds and achieves a top speed of approximately 99 mph, making it perfectly capable of handling daily commutes and longer journeys.

Energy is supplied by a 60 kWh usable battery pack, which delivers remarkable real-world efficiency. According to EV Database estimates, the Lightyear 0 can achieve a practical driving range of around 342 miles on a full charge, an impressive figure considering its relatively modest battery capacity. This achievement highlights the vehicle’s focus on minimising energy consumption and maximising distance between charging stops. Charging is supported through both Type 2 AC charging and CCS DC rapid charging at up to 75 kW. Under suitable conditions, a typical rapid-charging session can take approximately 44 minutes. Although its charging speeds are more conservative than many performance-focused EVs, the Lightyear 0 compensates with exceptional efficiency and the ability to travel significant distances on a single charge.
