About the Alpine A290 Electric 220 hp
The Alpine A290 Electric 220 hp is Alpine’s first fully electric hot hatch and the performance-focused sibling of the Renault 5 E‑Tech. Developed to carry Alpine’s motorsport heritage into the EV era, the A290 combines compact dimensions, sharp handling and everyday usability with a highly responsive electric powertrain.
Powered by a front-mounted electric motor producing 220 hp (160 kW) and 300 Nm of torque, the A290 delivers strong hot-hatch performance. The front-wheel-drive setup propels the car from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 6.4 seconds, while top speed is electronically limited to 106 mph (170 km/h).
The vehicle is equipped with a 52 kWh usable battery (55 kWh nominal) and offers a WLTP driving range of approximately 190-226 miles (305-364 km) depending on specification and testing methodology. Alpine has prioritised performance and driving enjoyment while retaining enough range for everyday practicality.
Charging is supported at up to 100-101 kW DC rapid charging, enabling a 10-80% recharge in around 30 minutes. An 11 kW AC onboard charger comes as standard, providing convenient home and workplace charging.
Built on the AmpR Small EV platform, the A290 features a heavily revised chassis, upgraded brakes, bespoke suspension tuning and Alpine-specific styling. The compact hatchback body offers seating for five occupants and up to 326 litres of boot space, ensuring practicality remains part of the package.
The A290 competes with vehicles such as the MINI Cooper SE, Abarth 500e, CUPRA Born and future electric hot hatchbacks, bringing a strong emphasis on driver involvement and agility.
