About the Mazda MX-30 Electric
The Mazda MX‑30 Electric is Mazda’s first fully electric production vehicle, designed as a stylish urban crossover with a distinctive character and a strong focus on sustainability. Rather than pursuing maximum range, Mazda opted for a smaller battery to reduce weight, improve driving dynamics and lower the environmental impact of production.
Powered by a single front-mounted electric motor producing 145 hp (107 kW) and 271 Nm of torque, the MX‑30 delivers smooth and predictable performance. The front-wheel-drive powertrain accelerates from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 9.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 87 mph (140 km/h).
The MX‑30 uses a relatively compact 30 kWh usable battery (35.5 kWh gross), providing an official 124-mile (200 km) WLTP range. While this is shorter than many rivals, Mazda specifically designed the MX‑30 for urban commuting and daily driving, where most journeys are significantly shorter.
Charging capability includes support for up to 54 kW DC rapid charging, allowing charging to around 80% in approximately 36 minutes under ideal conditions. AC charging is supported at up to 6.6 kW, making overnight home charging straightforward.
One of the MX‑30’s standout design features is its distinctive freestyle rear-hinged rear doors, inspired by Mazda’s RX‑8 sports car. The cabin uses sustainable materials including cork trim and recycled fabrics, creating a unique and premium interior atmosphere.
The MX‑30 offers seating for five passengers and a practical 366-litre boot, expanding to 1,171 litres with the rear seats folded. It is aimed at drivers who prioritise design, quality and urban usability over long-distance touring capability.
