About the CUPRA Tavascan V2 (77 kWh RWD)

The CUPRA Tavascan V2 is the sweet-spot model in CUPRA’s electric SUV coupé range, combining the long-range 77 kWh battery with a powerful rear-wheel-drive motor and a generous equipment list. Positioned above the V1 and below the flagship VZ models, the V2 adds premium features such as electrically adjustable bucket seats, a Sennheiser 12-speaker audio system, a top-view camera and larger alloy wheels, making it the most compelling balance of price, technology and range in the lineup.

Sharing its platform with the Volkswagen ID.5 and Audi Q4 e-tron Sportback, the Tavascan distinguishes itself with a much more dramatic design. Sharp LED lighting, aggressive surfacing, copper detailing and a low roofline give it a sporty appearance that stands out in a segment often dominated by conservative styling. Inside, the cabin centres around a distinctive ‘spine’ design that runs through the dashboard and includes a large 15-inch infotainment display and digital cockpit.

Performance is strong without being excessive. The 286 PS electric motor drives the rear wheels, delivering a 0-62 mph time of around 6.6 seconds while maintaining impressive efficiency of around 4.0 mi/kWh. The 77 kWh battery provides a WLTP range of up to 346 miles, making it one of the longer-range electric SUVs available at this price point.

Charging capability is equally competitive. The Tavascan V2 supports DC rapid charging up to 135 kW, allowing a 10-80% recharge in approximately 28 minutes under ideal conditions. For home charging, the onboard 11 kW AC charger can replenish the battery overnight when connected to a suitable three-phase wallbox.

Practicality has not been sacrificed for style. The Tavascan offers seating for five and a 540-litre boot, making it suitable for family duties, long-distance travel and everyday commuting. The elevated SUV driving position, generous rear passenger space and advanced driver assistance systems further enhance its usability.

For EV Compare UK readers, the Tavascan V2 is best viewed as a sportier and more distinctive alternative to the Tesla Model Y, Ford Capri, Volkswagen ID.5 and Peugeot E-3008. It combines strong range, rapid charging, premium equipment and eye-catching design in a package that feels more emotive than many of its rivals.

Verdict: The CUPRA Tavascan V2 is arguably the standout model in the range, offering the best mix of performance, range, equipment and value. It is one of the most desirable electric SUV coupés currently on sale in the UK.
