BYD SEAL U Design

The BYD SEAL U Design is a spacious all-electric family SUV that combines premium styling, advanced battery technology and everyday practicality. As the flagship trim in the SEAL U electric range, the Design model is positioned to compete with popular family EVs such as the Tesla Model Y, Škoda Enyaq and Hyundai Ioniq 5. Built around BYD’s e-Platform and Blade Battery technology, it offers an impressive blend of efficiency, comfort and value.

Powered by a single front-mounted electric motor producing 218 hp (160 kW) and 330 Nm of torque, the SEAL U Design delivers smooth, refined performance. The front-wheel-drive layout prioritises efficiency and everyday usability, while acceleration from 0-62 mph takes approximately 9.3 seconds, providing more than adequate performance for family and motorway driving.

Energy is supplied by a 87 kWh Blade Battery (approximately 87 kWh usable), delivering up to 311 miles (500 km) WLTP range. BYD’s cobalt-free Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery technology is designed to maximise durability, thermal stability and safety while reducing long-term battery degradation.

The SEAL U Design supports 140 kW DC rapid charging, allowing efficient top-ups during longer journeys, while three-phase AC charging supports convenient home and workplace charging.

Inside, the SEAL U Design features a spacious and premium cabin, highlighted by BYD’s signature rotating central touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, panoramic glass roof and high-quality materials throughout. Generous passenger space and a large luggage compartment make it especially well suited to family use.

Safety and technology are major strengths, with a comprehensive suite of advanced driver assistance systems, intelligent connectivity features and over-the-air software updates helping to keep the vehicle up to date throughout ownership.
