About the BMW iX3 50 xDrive

The BMW iX3 50 xDrive is the first production model built on BMW’s all-new Neue Klasse EV platform, marking a major step forward in the company’s electric vehicle strategy. It combines long-range capability, ultra-fast charging and advanced technology in a premium midsize SUV format.

The dual-motor xDrive all-wheel-drive system delivers up to 345 kW (469 hp) and approximately 645 Nm (476 lb-ft) of torque, providing strong performance despite its family-SUV focus. Acceleration from 0-62 mph takes around 5.0 seconds, while top speed is expected to be approximately 124 mph (200 km/h).

A major highlight is the new battery technology. The iX3 50 xDrive uses BMW’s sixth-generation battery pack with approximately 108.7 kWh usable capacity and an 800V architecture, enabling significantly higher charging speeds and improved efficiency. WLTP range is quoted at up to 500 miles (805 km) depending on specification.

Charging performance is among the best available in any EV. The vehicle supports up to 400 kW DC rapid charging, allowing a 10-80% recharge in approximately 21 minutes. BMW also claims up to 231 miles of range can be added in just 10 minutes under optimum conditions.

The new platform also improves practicality. The iX3 offers a 520-litre boot, expanding to 1,750 litres, plus a 58-litre front storage compartment (frunk). Towing capacity is rated at up to 2,000 kg.

Inside, the model introduces BMW’s next-generation digital environment featuring BMW Panoramic Vision, a large head-up style display stretching across the base of the windscreen, combined with a 17.9-inch central touchscreen running BMW Operating System X.

The BMW iX3 50 xDrive represents one of the most advanced premium electric SUVs arriving in 2026, targeting rivals such as the Audi Q6 e‑tron quattro, Porsche Macan Electric, Polestar 4, and Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD. Its combination of 500-mile WLTP range, 400 kW charging, and Neue Klasse technology makes it one of the most significant EV launches of the decade.
