Jaguar Type 01

The Jaguar Type 01 is Jaguar’s first model developed under its all-electric luxury reinvention. Previewed by the dramatic Jaguar Type 00 concept, the production car will be a high-performance four-door electric grand tourer positioned at the very top of Jaguar’s range.

Built on Jaguar’s new Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA) platform, the Type 01 is intended to compete with vehicles such as the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT, Lucid Air Sapphire and premium Bentley and Mercedes-Benz EVs. Jaguar has stated that the model represents the beginning of a completely new generation of cars for the brand.

While final production specifications have not yet been fully confirmed, Jaguar has indicated that the Type 01 will feature a tri-motor electric powertrain producing more than 986 hp (735 kW). Early reports suggest performance will place it amongst the fastest luxury EVs on sale.

The vehicle is expected to utilise a large 120 kWh battery pack paired with an advanced 800V electrical system. Jaguar claims a target WLTP driving range of more than 435 miles (700 km), while rapid charging is expected to add approximately 200 miles of range in around 15 minutes.

Design takes heavy influence from the Type 00 concept, featuring a long bonnet, dramatic proportions, minimalist surfacing and a distinctive new Jaguar design language. The production vehicle is expected to remain unusually bold compared with traditional luxury-electric rivals.

The cabin is expected to focus on high-end craftsmanship, advanced digital technology and sustainable luxury materials, positioning the Type 01 as a flagship luxury EV rather than a conventional sports saloon.

The Jaguar Type 01 represents one of the most ambitious EV launches of the decade, aiming to reposition Jaguar as an ultra-luxury electric brand with striking design, exceptional performance and long-range grand-touring capability.
